In the last few years before the Russian invasion Mariupol was more culturally vibrant than ever. Almost every week there was some unmissable event. Two of Olena Perkova’s embroideries depict scenes from Mariupol festivals in 2021. “The Tree of Life” is an installation on an abandoned bridge, created as part of the StartUp GOGOLFEST festival. “Photo Zone” is a portrait of Nataliia Perkova at the MRPL City Fest. Olena Perkova worked on these two embroideries for more than a year.
